I am not a cigarette smoker anymore, but I smoked for years longer than I wanted and longer than I should have. Now there is a push for Jefferson City to become smoke free. A group has formed, and now has launched a web page. Smoke Free JC. The group has a simple mission to promote a smokefree environment in all public buildings including restaurants and bars to protect individuals from exposure to secondhand smoke and reduce the harmful effects of tobacco use in the Jefferson City community.
The November December issue of the Jefferson City Magazine is out now. As I have said in the past this is a very cool magazine with information about Jefferson City that you can't find anyplace else. This issue also features the first colaberation with the Capital City Insider as a special podcast with psychic Lisa Pini can be found here.
One of the best "secrets" in Jefferson City is Old Munichburg's Oktoberfest. This year the date is September 27th. You can get the full line up here. In case you have not made it to the annual Mid Missouri event, Old Munichburg is the historic German "South Side of town". The Capital City Insider will be talking with Becky Bocklage about this years annual event and will be featured in issue fourteen of the Capital City Insider.
For years I have wanted a Chili Cook Off in Jefferson City, now our friends at the Naught-Naugh Agency are kicking one off this year to benefit the Samaritan Center. The event will be on Thursday, September 11, 2008 6 pm – 9 pm in the parking lot between Arris Pizza and Café via Roma, in downtown Jefferson City. You can get more information here.
